Prodigy Family

Welcome to the Family

Crestron's Prodigy product line is ready to take it's place in the already large family history book. Just like as it happens in a human family when a new member arrivers, there are hopefuls and skeptics as well around the crib of the newborn. Let's take a look and make a technically sound prediction about the future of the newcomer. Let's look at all the surrounding circumstances, one by one...

Pedigree

Prodigy was born into the very well known Crestron family. So if Prodigy survives it's childhood, the future is going to be bright.

Inheritance

Apart from a well branded name, one needs a lot more to be successful. So what did Prodigy inherit?

The Looks

The fathers of Prodigy did not intend to disguise where it's coming from. Prodigy has got all the usual - already proven to be working- design elements as the bigger brothers and sisters.

The Brain

Prodigy's brain, the PMC2 looks a little bit smaller than those big guys in the family...But if we take a closer look, we can see that Prodigy is "well equipped" in that department.

PMC2 Back

2 x Relay Inputs : 1 Amp 30 Volts AC/DC
2 x Analog/Digital Inputs: Sensing voltage or contact closure.
5 x Infrared outputs: IR transmitters are included.
1 x IR In. Currently not used. (Maybe next Generation)
2 x Serial Ports: RS-232 Only.
1 x LAN : 10/100 Network adapter port.
1 x USB B: For PC connection (programming only)
1 x Net Connector (Connects to the wireless gateway, for now)

Depending on the support from the software, our little Prodigy can be quite a capable fellow, taking care of any controlling job we might give to it.

Interfaces

The built in Wireless receiver is capable of handling up to 6 PLX-2 wireless remotes. The attached P-MNETGW wireless gateway is capable of handling up to 18 dimmers or switches and 3 wireless thermostats.
We can attach 6 PTL4 touch screens using the LAN port.
1 Xpanel application can be run to control our system from any PC.
1 iPhone or iPod Touch can also be added to the control arsenal.

But How Much Is it ?

In our Price Gallery, we are going to publish quite a few sample budgets, with further explanation in our Design Gallery. Let me just say this, in advance: You will be surprised! For a true feedback fast Ethernet based 3.6" TFT LCD touch screen you will be paying less than seven hundred dollars. That alone beats many of the competing parties on the home automation market, hands down. Please sign in for viewing our price lists.
