Occupancy Sensors

If we would like to have the lights turn on when we enter a room, and turn it off when we leave, we need to use an Occupancy sensor.

The occupancy sensor is a wall or ceiling mounted device, which uses different technologies, (Infrared, Ultrasonic, etc.) to determine whether a room is occupied or not. Based on the feedback provided by the occupancy sensor, the control system can turn on or off a light, or perform any other function.

The use of occupancy sensor can be combined with the Event Scheduler, as well. If we would like to prevent the bedroom lights to automatically turn on after 10 PM, we can setup an "occupancy sensor disable after 10PM" function.

Occupancy sensors can be shared with the Security System. This way we can avoid using redundant sensor devices, one for the security and another for the home automation system.
